Tales From The Bunny Burrow If you have opened your heart and home to these wonderful creatures over the years as we have, you understand and can laugh at their antics.  GrassHopper Born December 27, 2008 Adopted February 10, 2009 We adopted him when he was six weeks old and could not find a name that fit. I started talking to him about names, asking him which ones he liked. About a week went by and we were having our "name session" and I said "Grasshopper" (video will be online soon) and he sat up and "chirped" - I sat their amazed. So, I called the name "Grasshopper" again and again, he chirped... I ran to get my camera, and yes, he chirped again! This gentle giant is not quite nine months old and he knows he is very special. He loves his "Wabbit Transit" wagon which I built for him (He's a Flemish Giant and stands over two feet tall, way too hard to carry on a daily basis). He also loves to run in the orchard and is pretty smart, he has learned the commands, "Come", "Up", "Off" and "No". But like a cat, he usually comes when he wants to.  Sandy Born April, 2009 Fostered July 5, 2009 In the evening on Forth of July (2009) we received a phone call from our neighbor saying that her son had rescued a bunny and possibly had a bad leg. We took him to the vet and the X-Rays showed that he had a cracked pelvis, chipped rotator cuff (hip) and his leg was badly bruised besides being extremely undernourished. It took a few weeks but we nursed him back to health. Even though he was neutered a while back, he is a feisty little bugger and is three pounds of pure energy. He loves the days he can go outside and play in the bunny yard, he runs and twirls and does his bunny binkie. We have done 20-minute car rides with his brother, Grasshopper but so far they have not bonded. There cages have been side by side for a month... We can only hope!
